With a contract amount of about 39.16 million US dollars, and a construction period of 16 months, the hydraulic work of Sugek Phase III Seawater Desalination Project in Saudi Arabia is owned by Saline Water Partnership Company (SWPC), and its EPC general contractor is Acciona, Spanish Company. It is the third HDPE pipeline project in which CHEC has taken part in construction in Saudi Arabia. The project is comprised of building 7438m-long HDPE pipelines with a diameter of 2.2m and offshore ancillary facilities for the seawater desalination plant with a daily capacity of 450,000m3.
Characteristics and Significance of the Project:
There is an acute shortage of portable water in Saudi Arabia and 70% of its drinking water comes from seawater desalination. After its completion, the project will provide water intake and drainage service for the desalination plant and to enhance the local supply capacity of freshwater resources.
