The first bidding section of the Maya Railway in Mexico is 226km long, passing through five states of Mexico with 21 stations and 14 crossing stations. This is a supporting project for agricultural and industrial development centers, parks, and new urban areas and new tourism development will be built.
Characteristics and Significance of the Project:
Located in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, the 226km-long Maya Railway aims to bring tourists who currently cannot reach Cancun, a popular tourist destination in Mexico, further to other areas of the Yucatan Peninsula through the railway, and promote the economic and tourism development of eastern Mexico.
The Maya Railway project is a major infrastructure project of national concern in Mexico and has received great attention from all parties. After its completion, the first bidding section of 226km long, will provide more than 100,000 jobs, alleviating 7.3 million people from poverty, improving local living conditions, revitalizing the tourism industry, creating a new tourism model, promoting the Maya civilization, and effectively promoting the sustainable development of the tourism industry in southeastern Mexico.
