The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge has the reputation of being "one of the seven wonders of the world r". Most of the work on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge; Hong Kong and Macao Sections have been completed by CHEC, nearly half of the total construction effort.

The Hong Kong Section of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is an important part of the Bridge, linking the Hong Kong Boundary Crossing Facilities (HKBCF) port on Lantau Island in the east to an artificial Island in Zhuhai waters in the west. China’s harbor construction company CHEC has executed most of works of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, including the Hong Kong port reclamation work of HKBCF, Hong Kong Linkage road project, Hong Kong Infrastructure Project (Phase I), HKBCF Hong Kong port - Vehicle Clearance square Plaza, auxiliary buildings and facilities, with a total contract value of more than 40 billion yuan.

Characteristics and Significance of the Project:

The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is the world's longest sea-crossing channel jointly constructed by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao for the first time under the "one country, two systems", framework with a total length of 55 kilometers, a design service life of 120 years, and a total investment of about RMB 120 billion yuan.

The preparatory preliminary construction work for the Bridge started in August 2003; its construction work commenced in December 2009 and put into operation in October 2018, implying its preparation and construction lasted 15 years. As the world's longest sea-crossing bridge project with the largest investment and with the greatest difficulty in China's construction history, completion and opening of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, , has greatly shortened the space-time distance between Hong Kong, Zhuhai, and Macao, effectively improved the improving the internal transport network in the GBA (Greater Bay Area full), boosting the efficient flow and allocation of innovative elements including the flows of talents, materials, funds, and technologies, as well as promoting the construction of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area into a more dynamic economic zone, a high-quality life circle suitable for living, fostering business and tourism, and a demonstration area for greater cooperation between the mainland China and Hong Kong and Macao,an international high-level Bay area and a world-class city cluster.
